Walking down any street, we can always tell the fashionable and set apart those who spend quite a bit of money on their outfit. Most of us would like to have an outfit that would leave others in Awe and give us a little bit of an ego-boost. So the question is, how can we tailor an expensive looking wardrobe without breaking the bank?
Here are a few things you can do, to get an expensive looking wardrobe for less.
- Tailor fit
Nothing makes clothes look better than a proper fit. Clothes were design to fall on the body a certain way. Making sure that the fit is right, gives you a smooth silhouette, and will instantly make items seems like they cost more than they actually were. Here Victoria Beckham is sporting a well fitting black dress and looks absolutely chic.
- Colours

Stay away from distress items. The clothes you use should be fresh and look as good as new. Colours such as Red or Orange should be bold, and Black and White should look as though they are new. Items that look distress could make them look cheap. So it’s best to avoid them.
- Fabric

Style may be personal, and easy to fake. Fabric however can be obvious, cheap fabric is a major culprit. As a general rule, it’s best to stay away from items with more than 20% synthetic fabric. Opt instead for natural fiber fabrics such as cotton, linen and tweed.

If you want an outfit to look expensive, remember that less is more. Don’t try to overdo it in any area of your style. Avoid mixing too many colours or statement pieces.

It’s true when they say “the devil is in the details”. Always take notice of the details in a piece or item. For example, you can change the cheap plastic buttons found on tops with more expensive looking ones.
